Planning Your Touring Holiday In The UK |
|
If the weather is good then you will struggle to beat a touring holiday in the UK. You can tour the country with a tent, a caravan or perhaps you have a caravan and tent, whichever way you choose to do it you will can always look forward to a all encompassing holiday experience. The UK is a really diverse country, with lots of national and regional differences that make it a really exciting place to go travel around. Whether you want to take it easy with and relax it some places longer than others or constantly keep moving there is always something new around the corner. Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales form the United Kingdom and all have their own unique features. The last holiday we had in the UK was one of those glorious camping holidays combined with the best of touring holidays. We really did experience the best of British camping and some fantastic weather. We had been on touring holidays to the North of Scotland and Orkney and Shetland, with the amazing puffins (Tammie Norries as they are called there) and seals that will follow you round if you whistle to them softly, but this time we wanted to leave the wilds behind and instead look at touring caravan sites, with a little bit of camping thrown in. So we went to the South Coast and started off at Weymouth (having gone to Stonehenge en route) then we moved along the Jurassic Coast until we ended up in Devon and Cornwall. It was a delightful holiday, but luckily I had actually booked us some touring pitches before we went, because I knew that Devon and Cornwall would be busy in peak season, as indeed they were! Luckily all the information that I needed about touring caravan parks was available on the Haven Holidays website and believe me, I am so glad we booked these before we left home, because they were pretty full and we wouldn’t have got such a good deal or such a great view had we just pitched up and then tried to book any of the touring pitches. So a word from the ‘wise’, if you are going to go to some of the larger resorts get at least a base booked up, then you don’t waste precious holiday time trying to find somewhere to stay. Yes it is not spontaneous, but getting good touring pitches or even camping pitches at the last minute can be almost impossible. Sometimes it’s a good idea to have a base to travel to and from when spending time in a particular region. Always do some planning using a map so you get a good feel for distances and where best to place yourself. Having a base gives you the best of both worlds because you have somewhere that you can stay and leave all your stuff, then travel around as much or as little as you like. For me that is key to UK touring holidays because I need flexibility, I really don’t like to be made to stay in one place for too long. I need to have the options to go with the flow. Taking a tent means you can usually find somewhere to stay even in peak season as camping pitches are almost always available on caravan parks. Do some extensive research online and you will be amazed at how much there is to see and do right here in the UK! |
