LICKBARROW LODGE is an Arts and Crafts country house on the edge of our own 5-acre woodland, on a quiet country road just outside the C19th village of Windermere, where most local facilities can be found, and the picturesque lakeside village of Bowness-on-Windermere, each just a pleasant stroll away. We are not an hotel, nor a guest-house - Lickbarrow Lodge is our own home in which we offer the choice of Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the charming guest-room - with oak floors and sheepskin rugs, or Self-Catering accommodation in the unique self-contained studio apartment , each room in keeping with the Arts and Crafts ethos. Both rooms have standard-size double bed with electric underblanket, TV, DVD, radio, teacoffee-making facilities, small fridge and modern en-suite shower-rooms with invigorating multi-jet showers. See the Langdale Pikes from our garden, wander through secluded glades and hidden pathways in our private woodland or follow one of our self-guided walks to local viewpoints for fabulous panoramas and stunning mountain sunsets. We can provide itineraries for Lakeland tours, guidance on high and low level walks and even guide you on demanding summit walks. Weather touring, walking or just relaxing, Lickbarrow Lodge is the perfect venue for your Lake District break. Guests are very welcome to arrive any time after 1600. However, if agreed when booking, a dog may be accommodated in The Studio (normally self-catering) at an additional charge of £5 per day (max £20). We look forward to your stay with us.

Lickbarrow Lodge, an Arts and Crafts house - Directions:
FROM SOUTH - M6 J36 and A591 northward to Windermere (20 mins). FROM NORTH, M6 J40 and A66 westward for 1 mile, then A592 to Windermere (50 mins). Drive through WINDERMERE village and, after the pedestrian crossing, take the first left into Broad Street. At the end, turn right, then immediately left into Park Road. Pass Heathwaite Stores (our nearest shop) and continue to the top of the hill. Turn LEFT into Lickbarrow Road, drive up the hill and, after 400 metres, pass Gated single track road on left. Continue for a further 200 metres and turn into the second gateway on the left. Lickbarrow Lodge is the white-painted house with balconies and large chimneys. If using GPS, input Postcode (LA23 2NQ), and NOT the address.N.B. The house is on the open, upper section of Lickbarrow Road, leading up from the top of Park Road (not the lower section, which is very narrow).
