Located only 10 mins walk from Windermere and 15 mins from Bowness and Lake Windermere, Newstead is one of the few remaining grand Victorian Villas to be found in the area. Bland, soulless, contemporary design has been avoided in the decoration of the house in favour of the uniquely, elegant, rich and interesting styles of the Arts and Crafts, Art Deco and Art Noveau movements creating true harmony between the house and the tradition of the area. Each of the 9 guest rooms is individually decorated to a high standard.There are 4 Superior Doubles, 2 King 4 Posters and 2 Super King Sized 4 Poster beds. Rooms are all ensuite showers while room 7 has a showerbath combination. TV and tea and coffee making facilities are provided. Newstead is set in its own grounds with gardens to the front and generous off-street parking to the rear. The Brookside a friendly and cosy pub is located some 3 mins walk away behind woods and a stream to the rear of the property. Shops, pubs, restaurants and other tourist amenities are within a short walking distance. Breakfast is between 8.30 - 9.15 at individual tables with a wide breakfast menu including vegetarian and special dietary options. Newstead provides a lovely lounge for the comfort of its guests where a fire is lit in a magnificent Italian fireplace.

Newstead Guest House - Directions:
Newstead is located on an elevated site on New Road between the villages of Windermere and Bowness. The Villa is located between Brook Road and an 8m high clock tower called The Badely Clock. 3 ball lights are located on Newsteads front lawn and are a useful feature for identifying the property from New Road. Newstead is 10 - 15 min walk from Windermere and its train station with connections to the mainline rail network and major cities and airports including Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Edinburgh. A taxi service is located at the train station. The area is served by a extensive bus network running to Kendal, Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick. There is a regular boat service which will take you up or down and across Lake Winderemere. Bicyles and cars can be hired locally - depending on the season. Full day or 12 day guided minibus visits can be arranged with pick-up and drop-off at Newstead. Newstead is within walking distance of pubs, shops (including a laundrette) and a wide range of competitively priced restaurants.
