Thorncliffe dates from 1898 and was built from traditional Lakeland slate. It is ideally situated in a quiet residential area between the villages of Windermere and Bowness, in the English Lake District. It is only a short walk to the many shops, pubs and restaurants which both villages offer, and a 10 - 15 minute walk to Lake Windermere. The house which has recently been refurbished and modernised, has many of the original features but also has a light, contemporary feel, with original works of art decorating the walls. Rooms are double en-suite and have hospitality trays, tvs, hairdryer, iron and board and a selection of toiletries.We welcome well behaved dogs. We are gay friendly. Vegetarians are well catered for. The stunning landscape of the Lake District awaits you, with miles of well maintained footpaths there are many high or low level walks to choose from. Mountain bikers are also well catered for, with specific cycle tracks at Grizedale and Whinlatter Forests. The Lakeland towns and villages of Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere, Ambleside, Coniston, Hawkshead, Grasmere, Kendal and Keswick, provide an alternative to the fells. With many shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, theatres and art galleries there is something for everyone.

Thorncliffe - Directions:
If arriving on the A591, turn off into Windermere town centre, drive through the village towards Bowness. After approx .5 mile turn left at the Baddeley clock tower and toilets onto Lake Rd and then first right onto Princes Road. The house can be found on the right just after the turning for Queens Drive, opposite Windermere Junior school. Look for the bear on the porch.If arriving from Bowness on the A592, drive up towards Windermere and turn right onto Thornbarrow Road and first left onto Princes Road. The house can be found mid-terrace on the left opposite the school.
